I decided to start working on the arms this week.

I drew the front and side profile on the wood. I cut the side profile first on the band saw. I didn’t cut anything on the back of the arm because it doesn’t have much of a profile and it is nicer that it is flat so clamping it to the bench is easier.

I kept the piece of wood that I cut off and using a hot glue gun I glued back onto the arm piece. I did this because the front profile I drew is on the piece I cut off. So with it glued back on I can cut the front profile on the band saw. Once I finished cutting I used a flat gouge to separate the piece that I glued on.

I am getting a little anxious or a little intimidated with the arms being off. I have a hard time seeing how everything should be because I don’t want to get to close to the shoulders and it bugs me. So I think I will soon attach the arms. That will be I think quite hard to do to get the right angles and flatness of the glue joint. I can see many hours of tedious work. But first I have to rough out the arms and the hands. It will be very hard to do once it is glued to the body.
