I found that it has been a challenge to make the right hand to same size as the left. Going back and forth with the calipers to check finger length and thickness. I am also changing position of the fingers a little. I am taking it slow and not rushing the process.

I also have been working on the legs. Shaping them and reducing the thickness. I thankfully have a lot of books on anatomy and reference books for artists on the human body. Now that the weather is warmer I am wearing shorts especially in my studio with all the spot lights. I use my own legs as a reference a lot, however that has its challenges because Jesus didn’t go to the gym and dead lift and squat heavy weights three times a week like I do. So the reference books help a lot for a shape of  slender less muscular legs.

I started to work on the cloth around Jesus’s waist. I really enjoyed working on the rolled up part of the cloth to shape it and give it the look of cloth. I am anxious to work on the knot but I have to make sure the leg is the right size and shape before I can work on it.

I gave a power point slide show of my past carvings and the crucifix to the St. Agnes Knights of Columbus last Wednesday. I am not a public speaker and was very nervous and learned after the fact that I should face more towards my audience so they can hear me better. However I think they all liked it.

Two gentlemen came to me before the meeting and said that they are following my blog on the crucifix. That made me feel good that people are following my blog. I have no idea how many people go on my web site to look.

I did find out through Google that the Patron Saint of woodcarvers is St. Wolfgang. He was born in the same province in Germany as my Father.

Andy, missed you at the meeting last night and I’m curious on your progress with the carving. It is disappointing that we are not progressing at all with the reno at the church.
I hope when your carving is completed that it be installed in the church anyway as it would be a sight for all parishioners. I have been tempted to stop in at your studio. What door do I go to to enter.
    Keep up the good work.
You are a future St Wolfgang/ lol
